How to protect yourself from raccoons

Be careful not to provide any more ways for the raccoons to slip inside. Close up all access points to the house and secure your garden.

To achieve long-term peace free from raccoons, only the installation of a physical barrier in the form of an electric fence will help! When the raccoon touches the electric fence it receives an electric shock. This electric shock is completely harmless to both humans and animals, but the little bears will find it so unpleasant that they will keep their distance from your property in the future.

If the raccoon has already made itself at home in your attic, then you must first scare him off. The best thing to use for this is an ultrasound startler.

Securing the gutters

90 % of raccoons get inside via the gutters. We have developed special gutter insulators for this very reason. Installing the patented gutter insulator is a simple way of blocking off the raccoons' most popular entry point.

  Block martens from getting into the house via the gutters. The four wires are electrified making it impossible for martens to climb over them. Simple attachment to the gutter using a clip – no drilling necessary.

  The insulators are attached to the gutter using clips. This is the only way to provide effective protection against martens.

Drain pipe protection

These skillful climbers often use the drain pipe to get up onto the roof. The best protection in this instance is provided by our patented drain pipe insulators.

Securing house walls, fences, carports

Walls with a rough finish or walls with recessed joints are easy for raccoons to climb. Adjacent slat panel fences or carports are used by raccoons for getting easy access to houses. To securely block off these routes we provide special insulators with 6 or 7 parallel wires set 3 cm apart.

Securing fruit trees, beds and plants

Raccoons will happily help you to pick fruit in your garden. During the night they help themselves to plums, cherries and currants. We have specially developed a fence netting for the very purpose of securing fruit trees, beds and plants in your garden. Our fir green fence netting is simple and quick to put up and take down and will reliably keep raccoons away.

Energiser

Choosing the right energiser is important for ensuring the system operates smoothly. Fences that are used as a deterrent on buildings must use energisers with a reduced output voltage. The "VOSS MiniSafe" series of energisers has been specially developed for this purpose. The lower voltage is completely safe for people and animals, yet provides the necessary deterrent effect to keep the raccoons away permanently. These special energisers are available in various voltages: 230 V mains operation: VOSS MiniSafe Protec Energiser; 9 V operation: "BV 3900" battery energiser (12 V also available)

Conducting material

The right conducting materials need to be used to ensure smooth operation. We recommend high-quality polywire with VOSS.farming HPC conductor technology or fir green polywire with woven copper conductors. These polywires are very simple to work with and deliver an optimal shock to an animal when it touches the fence! For small areas, high-grade steel wire is also an option. These are slightly less conductive than the polywire, but are very robust, long-lasting and almost invisible.
