What changes?

A new EU directive (called PSD2) states that online payments will require a separate step to confirm identity. This additional authentication proves that the customers themselves are really using their card (and not someone pretending to be them).

What do you need to do now?

If you have not had activated extra verification on your card, contact your bank and ask which authentication methods they offer. This can be a unique password, code sent via SMS or e-mail or a fingerprint in your banking app. Once the process is underway, your card payments become even more secure.
